ABOUT VENUSSA
I was born in Massachusetts to a widowed, Asian immigrant mother. Growing up, I witnessed my mom work tirelessly to provide me with the best life possible. Although she was unable to have me participate in sports or attend dance classes, I learned early on how to teach myself the skills I wanted to know. I frequently expressed myself through art, music, and performing. As I grew up, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in entertainment. It was an area I felt most comfortable in and felt at home.
Through my journey as a first-generation college student, my path toward working in the entertainment industry was anything but linear. My family often expressed their concern to me about my career endeavors and success. I was a victim of sexual assault during my junior year of college. I worked 2-3 jobs while being a full-time college student and pursuing an acting career. There were plenty of 18-hour days where I felt like I was burning myself out and questioned if I even wanted to do this anymore. Despite all of the obstacles that were thrown my way, I could not see myself back down. This was my path and I needed to make it happen.
Today, I remain a young Asian woman who is headstrong, resilient, and determined. I continue to indulge in performing arts, music, film, and media. I am an advocate for mental health awareness and cultural diversity. I work with other young and creative individuals to empower and support them through their journey. I enjoy acting, singing, cooking, traveling, and being with my friends and family.
I am lucky to be in the position I am in, and I continue to write my own story.
